Overview / Description
AI Chat Exporter is a Chrome extension that turns AI chat conversations into files, covering ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and Perplexity through one extension instead of a separate tool for each assistant. You pick exactly which turns leave the chat: every message carries a checkbox, shift-click selects a range, and hovering previews what will be captured. Selected turns export to PDF, DOCX, Markdown, JSON, CSV, HTML, JSONL, PNG or ZIP.
What separates it from a copy-paste workflow is what survives the export. The adapters keep ChatGPT's reasoning traces, Deep Research reports with their references and web-search sources; Claude's extended thinking blocks, artifacts (code, React, Mermaid, SVG) and tool-call steps; Gemini's thinking process and Canvas documents; Grok's Think-mode output; DeepSeek's chain-of-thought and LaTeX; and Perplexity's numbered source list with inline citations. Every adapter shares the same selection interface and output pipeline, so the workflow is identical whichever assistant you are in.
Exporting needs no account, and every format except PDF is generated inside the browser, so conversations are not uploaded. PDF rendering happens on the vendor's server and is reserved for the paid tier. Useful if you keep a searchable local archive of AI work, hand research to colleagues who do not use the same assistant, or need chat output in a format your documentation actually runs on.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- One extension covers six assistants: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and Perplexity
- Nine export formats including PDF, DOCX, Markdown, JSON, CSV, HTML, JSONL, PNG and ZIP
- Per-turn checkbox selection with shift-click ranges and hover preview, so you export only the messages that matter
- Preserves reasoning traces, Claude artifacts, tool-call steps and Perplexity's inline citations rather than flattening them to plain text
- Every format except PDF is generated in-browser, and exporting works without creating an account
Cons
- Chrome extension only, so there is no mobile or standalone desktop workflow
- PDF export renders on the vendor's servers and is gated behind the paid tier
- Coverage is tied to six named assistants; anything outside that list is unsupported
- The homepage does not publish plan prices, so cost has to be checked on the pricing page
