Braintain is an AI flashcard app that uses visual memory anchors and spaced repetition to help language learners, students, and self-directed learners retain knowledge long-term. The app centers on BrainPods — pre-packed flashcard collections that come with AI-generated images already attached to every card. Rather than reading text and hoping it sticks, learners see a vivid image paired with a concept, attempt to recall the meaning before the answer is revealed, then rate their confidence across four levels: Again, Hard, Good, or Easy.

That self-rating feeds Braintain's SM-2 spaced repetition algorithm, which schedules each card's next review at the precise moment memory starts to fade — easy cards return in weeks, difficult ones come back the next day. Cards move through three stages — New, Learning, and Mature — so learners can track how their recall is actually developing over time, not just how many cards they've seen.

Beyond the pre-built BrainPods (covering languages, science, history, and more), users can create custom cards, write their own definitions, and attach their own images. The AI flashcard app is free and available on both iOS and Android, making it accessible without a subscription or setup cost.
