Clawd: The Context-Aware Browser Pet

Overview / Description

Clawd is a Chrome extension that adds a context-aware browser pet, a desktop-mascot companion that crawls across your browser and reacts to what you're reading, all powered by 100% local offline AI. It revives the 90s Shimeji desktop-pet idea with modern on-device intelligence: sentiment analysis and chat run entirely on-device using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano and ONNX Runtime, so no browsing data is transmitted off your machine. The mascot reads page titles and meta descriptions to understand your activity, and you can talk to it by voice or text using selectable personas such as Sarcastic, Gen Z, or Encouraging. Over 140 unlockable animations and an XP progression system reward time spent browsing with new cosmetics. Practical modes keep it out of the way: Focus Mode silences it, Ghost Mode fades its opacity while you type, and Performance Mode caps the physics to save battery. Clawd is aimed at people who live in the browser and want a privacy-first companion with personality. It is a novelty productivity companion rather than a work tool, and it currently runs only inside Chrome.
