Overview / Description
DeMarkup is an AI developer tool and Chrome extension that converts any webpage into clean, structured Markdown, built for people who feed web content into LLMs, notes, or documentation. It does the conversion locally in the browser: the listing states "DeMarkup makes no network requests" and processes everything on your machine, so page content is not sent to a server. One-click conversion runs from the toolbar icon or Ctrl+Shift+M, and smart content extraction strips navigation, ads, and boilerplate so you keep the article text rather than the page chrome. You can convert a full page, or right-click to convert just a selection. For LLM work it counts words, characters, and tokens so you can budget context before pasting, and a "Copy for LLM" mode prepends the page title and URL to the output. Markdown can be downloaded as a .md file named after the page, and YAML front matter and styling are customizable. It is MIT-licensed open source with full source on GitHub, which lets technical users audit exactly what it does. For researchers and developers who repeatedly turn articles into prompt-ready text, DeMarkup is a lightweight, privacy-respecting option in the BestAIFor directory. At the time of capture it was version 1.1.0 with a small user base, so it is early-stage.
