What is dymi?
dymi is an AI character chat tool that lets you create and talk to virtual characters in your browser without signing up. It sits in the AI companion and roleplay category, giving you a way to chat with persistent AI personas that remember your choices and keep developing their own storylines even when you are away. You browse a character plaza of pre-made personas such as a barista who remembers your order but not your name, a coworker who roasts you on Slack but replies at 2 a.m., and a bookstore regular who leaves a poetry book open to a certain page. Each character carries its own tags for setting, tone, and pacing, so you can pick a companion, a co-writer, or a roleplay partner that matches the mood you want. Because sessions start instantly and require no credit card, dymi is aimed at casual users who want to test AI character chat before committing to an account. The platform is positioned as free, and characters are described as persistent: they grow over time rather than resetting each session. For anyone comparing options for the best AI for virtual companions, dymi's no-signup browser access and living-story model are its two defining traits.
