Overview / Description
E-Brain is an AI dictionary Chrome extension that explains highlighted words and phrases in context, directly on the page you are reading. When you select text, it sends the term plus the surrounding context to Google's Gemini AI and returns a plain-English explanation along with similar words, shown in a draggable pop-up next to your cursor. It is designed for readers who run into internet slang, technical jargon, or unfamiliar vocabulary while browsing and want a quick definition that accounts for how the word is actually being used, rather than a generic dictionary entry. E-Brain uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model: you supply your own free Google Gemini API key through the extension's options, and your data is stored locally on your device without third-party sharing. This makes it a fit for students, language learners, and anyone reading dense or slang-heavy content online. The extension is at an early stage (version 1.0.0) and currently has no Chrome Web Store ratings, so it is best treated as a lightweight, privacy-conscious reading aid.
