GentID is an AI agent identity tool that gives autonomous AI agents a cryptographic, domain-anchored identity so they can prove who they are to anyone, built for teams deploying agents. It works like a passport system for agents: each agent gets an Ed25519 keypair anchored to the issuing organization's own domain rather than a central registry, and identities can be verified offline against that domain. Keys are generated locally and never transmitted, and are encrypted at rest. Beyond identity, GentID issues scoped credentials, so signed certificates can carry scopes, spending ceilings, and expiry, and teams can set spending or action limits and approval thresholds per agent. It provides full lifecycle control to revoke, suspend, or rotate keys, with audit logs included, and integrates through a single npm package with middleware support. GentID is open source and free to self-host under an MIT license, making it suited to development teams that need agents to make transactions or bookings safely with verifiable identity and spending governance.
