Grux OS is a native macOS AI agent built for people who work alone. It opens real terminal sessions and can undo anything it did, because every command is snapshotted into a shadow git repository before it runs - which is the safety mechanism that makes handing an agent your actual shell reasonable rather than reckless.

Beyond the terminal it runs swarms of agents in parallel, scaffolds and builds iOS apps, captures meetings on-device, and writes its own next version for you to approve. The vendor counts 39 features, 79 tools and 1,830 tests in the current build. Setup runs from a single terminal command, and every command can also run unattended or print itself as a prompt, so a coding agent you already use can install and extend Grux for you.

The model layer is yours to choose: bring your own API key, or run a local model with no key at all. There is no account, no server, no telemetry and no subscription. It is free and MIT licensed, requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon, ships as a 22.4 MB download, and is signed and notarized by Apple. The maker states roughly $322,000 of Claude usage went into building it and asks only for a GitHub star.
