Informity AI is a local AI document chat tool that lets you ask questions across your own files and get source-cited answers entirely on your machine, with no cloud, accounts, or fees. It indexes your documents and runs local language models so nothing leaves your computer, which suits people who handle sensitive material. Informity supports PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, Markdown, HTML, EPUB, and other formats, and offers two chat modes: a Researcher mode that answers only from your documents and an Assistant mode that can optionally add web search. It includes offline document translation across multiple languages and tones, plus five specialization modes - Financial Analyst, Legal Counsel, Medical Advisor, Security Auditor, and Technical Specialist - that tailor responses to a domain. Optional Ollama integration lets you bring your own models. The app is open source under the MIT license and completely free, with no subscriptions, paywalls, or ads. It currently runs on macOS with Apple Silicon, where the default model recommends 24 GB of memory.
