OrbitOS

OrbitOS is a browser-based web operating system with an AI agent that can read your screen and operate the OS itself. It runs entirely inside a browser tab on any device, with a graphical desktop, windowed multitasking, 90+ commands and apps, APT-style package management, modding support, local storage and saved state, plus games.

The AI layer is what separates it from other web-desktop projects: rather than a chat panel bolted onto the side, the agent is intended to understand what is on screen and actually interact with the system - executing actions and multi-step tasks inside the OS. The vendor's build splits AI functionality across several components, referred to on the site as Vex, Agentic AI, Legacy AI and shared AI code.

A caveat worth stating plainly, because the vendor states it themselves: as of the site notice dated 30 August 2026, OrbitOS is unstable. A large AI rework accidentally removed or changed parts of the existing codebase, and the maker documents the resulting regressions - Agentic AI not working correctly, some actions failing to execute, multi-step actions breaking, and various UI faults - along with an apology and a fix in progress. Treat it as an experimental project to try rather than something to depend on today. Everything runs locally in the browser and no pricing is published.
