PromptLayer is an AI observability tool that traces LLM requests, workflows, token usage, latency, costs, and failures for developers and AI engineering teams building multi-step AI systems. It surfaces complete execution paths through a single timeline and waterfall view, so you can follow tool calls and retries across an agent or pipeline, pinpoint exactly where a request failed, and flag slow or expensive steps. Beyond debugging, PromptLayer focuses on cost intelligence: it monitors estimated spend across models, providers, features, customers, and teams, then attributes that spend so you can see which product or customer is driving usage. It generates prioritized optimization recommendations with quantified savings estimates (e.g. flagging a specific workflow with a potential monthly saving) and confidence indicators, and reports its own data-quality coverage such as pricing coverage and attribution coverage. It integrates with OpenAI, Anthropic, and custom setups via PHP, TypeScript, and REST APIs.
