Trip1 MCP + x402 is an AI hotel booking agent that lets AI agents search, compare, and book hotels with on-chain crypto payments for developers and AI power users. It exposes hotel search, rate comparison, and reservation creation as four Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools — search_hotels, get_hotel_details, purchase_hotel, and get_order_details — that any MCP-compatible client can call in sequence.

The service covers more than 3 million properties across 200+ countries. When an agent calls purchase_hotel, trip1 responds with an x402 payment challenge; the agent then signs a USDC authorization on Base, and a facilitator submits the transfer. Settlement completes inside the same HTTP request, typically within about two seconds, with no wallet UI required. If no x402-capable wallet is attached, purchase_hotel returns a CoinGate URL as a fallback, allowing payment manually with USDC or 50+ other cryptocurrencies.

Trip1 MCP + x402 ships alongside a SKILL.md file that provides the agent with judgment — when to fire each tool, how to confirm booking details with the user, and how to recover when a rate drops between search and checkout.
