WikiCrawl is an AI research tool that finds and explains the connection between any two Wikipedia articles by crawling the network of wiki links between them and generating a plain-English narrative sentence describing how the two subjects relate. The project was originally built in 2019 and relaunched in 2026 with improved speed, a smoother interface, and an AI narrative layer that converts the raw link path into a readable explanation.

The tool works by accepting two Wikipedia topics as inputs, then tracing shortest-path or weighted connections through the hyperlink graph that connects Wikipedia articles to one another. Rather than returning a bare list of intermediate articles, WikiCrawl produces a sentence that explains why the connection holds — grounded in the actual snippet text surrounding the links in each article. For example, a path from "Cane toads in Australia" to "Aztecs" runs through the Australian Museum and a specific gold ornament in its Aztec collection, and the AI layer surfaces that context as a legible statement.

A "Surprise me" mode generates random pairs for users who want to explore unexpected connections without choosing topics themselves. Each result includes the full link chain (article → article → article) and a link back to the relevant Wikipedia pages so users can verify the path independently.
